Plot

Parasite is a South Korean dark comedy-thriller directed by Bong Joon-ho. The film revolves around the Kim family, who live in a cramped, semi-basement apartment and struggle to make ends meet. Their lives take a drastic turn when the son, Ki-woo, is offered a job as an English tutor for the wealthy Park family’s daughter.

As Ki-woo becomes part of the Park household, the Kims seize the opportunity to infiltrate the lives of the Parks one by one, all posing as unrelated professionals. A series of deceptions and darkly comedic incidents ensue, revealing the stark contrast between the wealthy and the impoverished.

However, a sudden twist reveals a hidden secret within the Park’s home, leading to a violent and suspenseful climax that confronts themes of social inequality and class struggle.

Parasite is a masterful exploration of economic disparity, privilege, and the consequences of social hierarchy. It became the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, receiving widespread acclaim for its storytelling, social commentary, and character development.
