Plot
Land of Mine is a Danish-German historical drama film directed by Martin Zandvliet. Set in the aftermath of World War II, the movie tells the harrowing story of a group of young German prisoners of war who are forced to clear landmines from the Danish coastline.
The film follows the Danish sergeant Carl Rasmussen, who initially holds a strong anti-German sentiment but gradually begins to sympathize with the plight of the young prisoners. As the boys, some as young as teenagers, carry out their dangerous and life-threatening task, the tension between captors and captives grows.
Land of Mine explores themes of post-war reconciliation, the dehumanizing impact of war, and the moral complexities of revenge and forgiveness. The film is a powerful and emotionally charged portrayal of the horrors of war and the capacity for humanity to find common ground, even in the most trying circumstances.
