Plot

Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson), son of the original bumbling detective Frank Drebin, is now leading the LAPD’s Police Squad. After a bank heist serves as a distraction to steal the “P.L.O.T. Device” from a safety-deposit box, Chief Davis reassigns Drebin for being too chaotic. Meanwhile, Simon Davenport dies in an apparent suicide, but his sister Beth (Pamela Anderson), a crime novelist, suspects foul play and believes their employer, tech mogul Richard Cane, is involved. Drebin—ever prone to slapstick disasters (like driving a self-driving car gone haywire) and accidental chaos—is drawn into Beth’s investigation. As he uncovers Cane’s plan to activate the P.L.O.T. Device at New Year’s using a mixed martial arts match and the city’s electronic infrastructure, Drebin must navigate absurd obstacles, over-the‐top villains, and his own incompetence. The climax involves a spectacle at the arena, where mass chaos erupts but Drebin manages to use the device to calm the crowd (after many comedic mishaps) and stop Cane, reconciling with Beth all in comedic fashion.
