Plot

The Irishman follows Frank Sheeran, a World War II veteran who becomes a mob hitman working for Russell Bufalino and his crime family. Frank rises through the ranks, becoming a trusted associate of Teamsters union leader Jimmy Hoffa. As Frank’s loyalty to the Bufalino crime family deepens, he becomes increasingly entangled in the world of organized crime, committing numerous murders and other criminal activities. However, his closest relationships become strained, particularly with Hoffa, as their friendship is tested by loyalty conflicts and power struggles within the mafia. The film spans several decades, showcasing key historical events and the impact of organized crime on American society. Ultimately, Frank reflects on his life of crime from the perspective of an elderly man, grappling with the consequences of his actions and the toll they have taken on his relationships and conscience.
