Plot
Se7en (1995) is a psychological thriller that follows two detectives, veteran William Somerset and rookie David Mills, as they hunt a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his modus operandi. The investigation begins with a series of gruesome murders, each representing a different sin: gluttony, greed, sloth, lust, pride, envy, and wrath. As Somerset and Mills delve deeper into the case, they uncover the meticulous and horrifying nature of the killer, John Doe, who believes he is purging the world of moral corruption. The climax arrives when Doe surrenders, leading the detectives to a remote location where Doe reveals his final, devastating plan. Doe confesses to killing Mills’ wife, Tracy, out of envy and provokes Mills into killing him, thus completing the cycle of sins with wrath. The film ends with Somerset contemplating the pervasive darkness of the human soul while Mills is left shattered by the ordeal.
