Plot

In rural New Mexico in 1989, Lou, a reclusive gym manager estranged from her powerful criminal father, Lou Sr., lives a quiet and isolated life. Her sister Beth is trapped in an abusive marriage to JJ, while Lou Sr. runs gun operations and exerts menacing control over the town. Into this bleak world comes Jackie, a bodybuilder passing through as she prepares for a competition in Las Vegas. Lou offers Jackie steroids to enhance her training, and soon the two women are drawn together, falling in love amid the harshness and danger of Lou’s family legacy. Their romantic bond deepens, but it also pulls Jackie into Lou Sr.’s criminal web—secrets, violence, and betrayals begin to surface. Domestic abuse, power struggles, and Lou’s conflicted loyalty challenge both women, especially as their relationship collides with forced confrontations with the past and violent choices. As Jackie’s training intensifies and Lou becomes more entangled, their love becomes both a refuge and a danger in a world defined by lies, bleeding, and irrevocable loss.
