Plot

Gladiator is an epic historical drama directed by Ridley Scott. The story follows Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), a Roman general who is betrayed by Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the ambitious son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. After Commodus murders his father and seizes the throne, Maximus is enslaved and forced to become a gladiator.
