Plot

In Gladiator, General Maximus Decimus Meridius, loyal to Emperor Marcus Aurelius, is betrayed by the power-hungry Commodus. Commodus murders his father, seizes the throne, and orders Maximus’s execution. Maximus escapes but finds his family murdered. Captured by slave traders, he’s sold to Proximo, a gladiator trainer. Maximus rises in the gladiatorial arena, earning fame and admiration, all while plotting revenge against Commodus. Through his valor and leadership, Maximus ignites a glimmer of hope among the oppressed citizens of Rome. Eventually, Maximus confronts Commodus in the Colosseum, seeking justice for his family and redemption for Rome. Their epic duel ends with Maximus emerging victorious but mortally wounded.
