Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), once a promising Formula One driver in the 1990s, had his meteoric upward career derailed by a serious accident. Decades later, he has drifted—racing sporadically as a hire, living off-grid from the sport that once defined him. Meanwhile, his former teammate and now team owner, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), is struggling to keep his underdog team, APXGP, afloat. Ruben offers Sonny a chance to return—for one last shot at glory—not only to save the team but to rebuild something of his legacy. Sonny agrees, returning to the demanding world of F1, where he must mentor a hot rookie driver, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), manage fierce competition, both external on the track and internal within himself, and face his fears, regrets, and the physical toll of pushing his limits. As seasons roll into real Grand Prix weekends—with real teams, real drivers, and real danger—Sonny attempts to reclaim what was lost: speed, respect, and redemption, knowing full well that in F1, past mistakes can cost more than just races.
