Plot

Anatomy of a Fall follows Sandra Hüller’s character—a writer—living with her husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son Daniel, in a remote chalet in the French Alps. Their family life, secluded and serene, is shattered when Samuel is found dead in the snow outside their home. The police investigate whether his death was a suicide or murder, with Sandra becoming the prime suspect. Because Daniel is partially blind, his observations and testimony become central—and ambiguous—to the case. The narrative shifts between courtroom procedure, family dynamics, and psychological tension as Sandra tries to prove her innocence. The film explores the nature of truth, how perceptions are shaped, and the fragility of memory. Through flashbacks and cross-examinations, the story reveals fractures in the marriage and varied interpretations of events.
