Plot

Better Man follows the life of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, beginning in his childhood in Stoke-on-Trent. As a young boy, Robbie is eager to entertain but struggles with self-doubt, often compared unfavorably to his father. Encouraged by his grandmother Betty, he begins performing, but inner critics plague him. He rises to fame as member of the boy band Take That, then breaks off to pursue a solo career. With success comes excess: fame, touring, and an indulgence in alcohol and drug use lead to personal turmoil. Robbie’s relationships suffer, including with his longtime fiancée Nicole, and the death of Betty hits him hard. In a climactic performance at Knebworth, his internal conflicts manifest as a fantastical mob of his own past selves; his emotional collapse forces him to confront his demons. Ultimately, Robbie enters rehab, reconciles broken relationships, and finds a measure of peace, culminating in a duet with his father in the Royal Albert Hall
