Plot
Blake Lovell, a writer living in San Francisco with his wife Charlotte and young daughter Ginger, is haunted by a fraught relationship with his estranged father, Grady. After receiving notice that his father is presumed dead and inheriting his childhood home in rural Oregon, Blake persuades Charlotte and Ginger to spend time there, hoping to repair their connection and confront his past. Upon arriving in the dead of night, their journey goes awry when their moving truck veers off the road to avoid a strange creature; Blake is scratched by something dangerous in the woods. The family takes refuge in Blake’s ancestral farmhouse, barricading doors as ominous noises surround them. As the night deepens, Blake begins to exhibit disturbing symptoms: pain, altered senses, and a creeping transformation that threatens his humanity. Torn between protecting his family and succumbing to the beast within, he fights to hold on to what remains of himself as Charlotte and Ginger grapple with the horror of what he is becoming.
