Plot

Thelma Post, a 93-year-old widow living alone in Los Angeles, shares a close but sometimes patronized relationship with her grandson Danny, who helps her but doesn’t always treat her as fully capable. One day she receives a phone call from a scammer pretending to be Danny, saying he’s in trouble and needs bail. Distraught, Thelma sends $10,000 in cash to a postal address. When she realizes she’s been duped and the authorities offer little help, she decides to reclaim what was taken—on her own terms.Unable to drive, Thelma borrows an electric mobility scooter from her old friend Ben, who lives in assisted care, and together they embark on a small-scale mission across town, enduring falls, misunderstandings, and dangers of age. Along the way, Thelma must confront her family’s worries (her daughter Gail and son-in-law Alan), accept help, and assert her dignity. Her journey is equal parts heartfelt and humorous—a testament to resilience, agency, and the idea that courage doesn’t require youth.
