Plot

Green Book (2018) is a biographical drama set in the 1960s, revolving around the unlikely friendship between African American classical pianist Dr. Don Shirley and Italian-American bouncer Tony Lip. When Dr. Shirley embarks on a concert tour across the racially segregated Deep South, he hires Tony as his driver and bodyguard. The journey exposes them to the harsh realities of racism, with Tony navigating through dangerous situations using the “Green Book,” a guide for African American travelers on safe places to stay and eat. Despite their differences in background, personality, and worldview, the two form a deep bond as they confront prejudice and injustice together.
